about this home's

Welcome to this upscale 2 bedroom, 2 bath, rarely available end unit at Temescal Station, a buyer-favorite boutique building in Oakland's coveted neighborhood. This sunny flat boasts a wonderful layout with two bedrooms and two full baths all on one level, including a master suite with en suite bath and a second bedroom with adjacent full bath. The open plan kitchen, living and dining area are perfect for contemporary tastes. As a corner unit this home boasts a whole extra wall of windows with outlooks to beautiful ginkgo trees and hills views beyond.

There is quick, direct access from Shafter Avenue to your front door, with no dark hallways to traverse! The home feels like your own aerie within the small community and Temescal neighborhood.

This exceptional condo was just updated with a gorgeous new high-end quartz kitchen countertop "Calacatta Arno", deep sink and Grohe faucet, a new Fisher & Paykel fridge, beautifully refinished Smith & Fong Plyboo floors, new wall-to-wall carpet, crisp new paint scheme and fashionable new satin brass cabinet hardware. The kitchen includes a gas range/oven. A full-sized stacked Samsung washer & dryer also comes with the unit. You'd be forgiven for thinking this is a brand new home as it's all so fresh and modern!

Comfortable radiant heat is included in dues, for lower monthly utility bills. This distinctive building was designed with great attention to detail by Berkeley architect Kava Massih. Built in 2007 to green standards, with only 18 residential units, all oriented towards a lushly planted courtyard with colorfully sparkling terrazzo inlays. The unit includes one-car deeded garage parking with direct interior access.

Temescal Station is located in a historic residential neighborhood, with a very popular Sunday Farmer's Market and many delicious restaurants and artisanal amenities within walking distance. The Piedmont Avenue, Rockridge and Uptown neighborhoods are all close by, and MacArthur BART is just about four blocks away. Enjoy Slow Streets where you can walk, bike, wheel or stroll without through traffic. With a Walk Score of 96 and Bike Score of 98, it doesn't get much better than this!

Temescal is one of the oldest neighborhoods in north Oakland, named for Temescal Creek. California bungalows and stucco single-family homes comprise the bulk of housing in Temescal, which is popular with first-time Oakland homebuyers. Several condominium buildings now fill out the housing stock. Temescal Station, built in 2007 was one of the latest additions.

The Temescal Station neighborhood boasts many fine eateries, starting with Oakland's favorite gourmet mac n' cheese place, Homeroom, on the ground floor of the building, with a takeout outlet on the next block. Next door is obsession-worthy Tacos Oscar. Other local eateries within a block or two include True Burger, Clove and Hoof and Beauty's Bagel Shop. During Shelter-in-Place both Homeroom and Tacos Oscar are offering take-out.

Park Day School is several blocks away, and the Temescal Pool is a favorite local place to do laps.

The home is just several blocks to Kaiser Hospital, a major employer in the area. It's also close to the excitement of Uptown Oakland.

Temescal’s main thoroughfare is Telegraph Avenue, which runs from the 40th Street/MacArthur Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station to 55th Street. The highly walkable neighborhood has the feel of an urban village. Play Cafe offers parents a place to eat while their kids can romp around and engage with toys. Feeding the foodies of Temescal are Bakesale Betty’s, the wood-fired ovens of Pizzaiolo, and Burma Superstar, just to name a fw. The Temescal Farmer's Market provides fresh produce, and food stands serve chai, crepes, and Blue Bottle Coffee. Wine lovers rave about The Wine Mine’s weekly tastings, and wine bar Marc 49 serves patrons on its off-street patio. Temescal Alley and Alley 49 with trendy shops and the Temescal Barber is another popular destination.

Arts and culture make this neighborhood lively. The annual Temescal Street Fair showcases arts, crafts, and music by residents of all ages. Galleries feature up-and-coming young artists. The Temescal Arts Center hosts dance and musical performances and offers classes in everything from yoga to tai chi. Studio One Art Center, run by Oakland’s Parks & Recreation department, offers affordable art, photography, bookmaking, and yoga classes taught by working professionals. The Temescal Library, opened in 1918 with Andrew Carnegie’s foundation funds, is the only Oakland branch to offer books in Amharic and Tigrinya languages.

For a comprehensive list of shopping, dining and services in Temescal, visit the Temescal Business Improvement District page. A Public Art Walking Tour of Temescal is currently scheduled for May 23rd.

Temescal is close to other great North Oakland neighborhoods—Uptown, Piedmont Avenue and Rockridge--and is 2.6 miles to the University of California at Berkeley campus.

Public transportation is readily accessible via the AC Transit Transbay bus line to San Francisco and MacArthur BART. It's also a 15 minute drive to Oakland International Airport, which is serviced by more than 10 major airlines, and 20 minutes by car to downtown San Francisco.
